Meghan Markle's dad hand-delivers letter to Oprah Winfrey asking for an interview

Thomas Markle hand delivered a letter to Oprah Winfrey calling on her to interview him.

The 76-year-old reportedly drove to the chat show host's home in Montecito, California and gave the note to a member of security.

The lighting director has offered to tell his side of the story, a month after his estranged daughter Meghan sat down with Oprah, The Sun reports.

A source told the publication: “Thomas delivered a letter to Oprah asking her to contact him so he could tell his side of the story.

“This was not a note to Meghan and Harry, it was meant for Oprah.

“Thomas watched the interview she did with them and feels he deserves a chance to have his say.”

In visiting Oprah's enormous estate Thomas will have travelled very close to Prince Harry and Meghan's property, which is a mile down the road.

It is unlikely he will have dropped by however, given the bad blood that is said to exist between him and his daughter.

Thomas was not invited to Meghan's wedding and it is believed he has not spoken to her in three years.

During her interview with Oprah, Meghan spoke of how hurt she was when she discovered her dad had been working with the press.

She said: “I’m trying to decide if I'm comfortable even talking about that.

“It was... if we were going to use the word betrayal.”

Thomas wasted no time in airing his grievances following the bombshell interview, appearing on Good Morning Britain the day after the programme aired.

He shared his desire to reconcile with his daughter and grandchild during an interview with hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

Speaking late at night from his home in Rosarito Mexico, a shaky Thomas admitted that he did lie to Meghan about working with the press back in 2018 - which she had also confirmed in her Oprah tell-all.

He also said he still hasn't spoken to his daughter since he was in hospital having heart surgery.

"I'm still her dad," he said, adding that Harry and Meghan are "probably about 70 miles from me now".

As he shared his desire to reconcile, he continued: "I'm available any time we can get together. I'd love to get together. I'd certainly like to see my grandson."
