Meghan Markle's dad says being reunited with his daughter is his last wish

The Duchess of Sussex’s dad says his final wish is to be reunited with his estranged daughter – and he will never give up trying.

Thomas Markle, 75, consoles himself by looking at newspaper photos of Meghan, 38, and Archie, the eight-month-old grandson he has never met.

He had hoped to rebuild his relationship with his daughter with help from her mother Doria Ragland. But he says she has now cut contact with him too.

Meghan’s half-brother Tom Jnr, 53, told the Sunday Mirror: “Dad says being reunited with Meg is his last wish in life.

“He’s at the stage now where it’s the last throw of the dice. If he could go see Meg in Canada he’d go see her. Believe me, he’d walk straight out his front door and wouldn’t pack a bag. He’d get there as soon as he could.

“He will never give up trying to contact Meg and to finally meet Archie and Harry.

“Everything he says is basically a plea for them to get back in contact.”

“Doria could engineer a meeting. But they haven’t had any contact since the time Dad was pictured dropping off some flowers at her house.”

Thomas has also never met son-in-law Harry face-to-face. They have spoken on the phone but Thomas says their last call was in the weeks before the royal wedding in May 2018 and the Prince, 35, berated him for posing for paparazzi pictures.

Days later, as Thomas prepared to fly to the UK, hoping to walk his daughter down the aisle, he suffered heart problems and had to pull out.

Tom Jnr said: “Dad still wants Meghan to be happy, to have the best life and he enjoys seeing photos of her smiling with Archie in Canada.

“But pictures can’t replace a real relationship.”
