Meghan Markle recalls son Archie's cute reaction to children's book

Meghan Markle has opened up about her son Archie's utterly adorable reaction to her children's book - featuring both himself and Lili and their dogs.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday in her second interview since moving to the US with husband Prince Harry.

As she opened up about life in their Santa Barbara mansion with children Archie and Lili, Meghan was asked whether her son knew that he was featured in her children's book.

Earlier this year, Meghan released her very first book The Bench, which features the two-year-old.

"He does," she said, revealing that Archie had also noticed their two dogs, a Labrador called Pula and a beagle named Guy.

"On that first page you open and you see our dogs and he goes, 'That's Pula! That's Guy!'," she laughed.

Lili also makes an appearance in the book, with the final illustration in the book showing Meghan standing in a garden with Lili in a sling.

Meanwhile, Harry sits on a bench as he feeds the chickens with Archie.

"I wrote this originally just as a poem for my husband on Father's Day and it was about my observation of him and him being a dad, which is the most beautiful thing to watch," she said.

"Once it was shared with a couple of friends and people that we are close with they said, 'No, this resonates for me too because it feels really inclusive and there's representation.' It's just a sweet love story between a family and so I said, 'Okay, let's turn it into a children's book.

"I made sure that all of those pieces of it, especially the softer side of masculinity, the softer side of fatherhood, were all in there and made sure everyone could see themselves in these pages because I remember as a little girl, you didn't always see someone that looked like you and I thought that was really important to have everyone story feel like it was unfolding on those pages for them."
