Meghan Markle has shared an adorable picture with her newborn son Archie on Mother's Day.

An image was shared on the royal couple's Instagram on Sunday of Meghan clutching the baby's feet over what appear to be forget-me-not flowers.

Meghan Markle's secret tribute to dad Harry as royal baby name meaning is revealed

While Mother's Day is celebrated in the UK in March, it was held on Sunday in the States, as well as in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Kenya and Japan.

The social media post was accompanied by the poem Lands, by writer Nayyirah Waheed.

"My mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived," it reads.

Los Angeles-raised Meghan , then acting in TV drama Suits, previously used the poet's words to celebrate International Women's day in 2017.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first son, who is seventh in line to the throne, was born weighing 7lb 3oz on Monday.

Meghan and Harry named the boy Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, opting not to give him a courtesy title.
