Meghan Markle lookalike defends the Sussexes as she admits demand has 'waned'

Meghan Markle lookalike Sarah Mhlanga has defended the Duchess of Sussex after learning of her decision to avoid the King's Coronation.

Sarah has explained that working as her lookalike opened her eyes to the "hate" that Meghan receives.

After Meghan and Prince Harry 's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Sarah stated that because people can't access the real Meghan, they're using Sarah as their "punchbag."

"There are some people who feel like [Meghan is] waging a war on the royals, and people can't access Meghan so they're using me as their punchbag.

"I get messages saying I'm attention-seeking and that I should be ashamed to represent Meghan, it's so hurtful. I love Meghan, but now, after this interview, I'm worried people won't want to hire me," she said back in 2021.

In a recent interview with Closer, Sarah echoes that popularity for Harry and Meghan has waned ahead of the Coronation and as it's announced that Meghan won't be joining Harry at the event, Sarah agrees with her decision.

"I don't blame her for choosing not to come to England to celebrate it, it's her son Archie's birthday and he's her priority her children come first," she said. "And I suspect that she needs more time to heal from all the rows."

"Meghan does amazing charity work and champions women which, as a feminist, I completely agree with, and I think she's had a tough time," Sarah continued.

"She doesn't deserve some of the things that are said about her. I was horrified when Jeremy Clarkson said she should be paraded naked and pelted with excrement."

Sarah went on to reveal that she has been trolled for working as Meghan's double and is forced to "ask for security" when she goes out in public as the Duchess.

"I'm always surprised that people have such strong feelings, and I don't know she copes with it. I was trolled just for being her double! I got nasty comments and felt terrible, so I can only imagine how tough it is being const bombarded by vile criticism.

"I now ask for security if I'm going out in public as her, especially if I'm near Buckingham Palace or Windsor where people have previously believed I really am Meghan."

Coming to Meghan's defence, Sarah added: "At the end of the day, I just see her as a mother who's doing the best for her family."
