Meghan Markle leaves event to get home in time to give Archie dinner - 'it's feed time'

Meghan Markle told guests she had to get back home to feed her baby boy Archie after launching her new clothing collection today.

The Duchess of Sussex was in London to tell a group of fashion experts about her Smart Works project, which she has created in partnership with John Lewis, Jigsaw, Marks & Spencer and her fashion designer friend Misha Nonoo.

She looked happy and relaxed throughout the event, dressed in pieces from the collection, and spoke passionately about the project.

According to Roya Nikkhah , the Sunday Times's royal correspondent, who was at today's event, Meghan spoke about little Archie during a chat with a group of people who have used Smart Works, which helps women get back into work.

She said: "I’ve got to get back to the baby, it’s feed time."

Royal insiders have said that Meghan is breastfeeding Archie, and the couple's Frogmore Cottage home is about an hour drive from Oxford Street, where today's event was held.

Meghan's collection will go on sale today and for each item bought, one will be donated to Smart Works to be handed to a woman trying to get back into work.

It contains five staple items - a dress, bag, blazer, suit trousers and a white shirt.

John Lewis is selling the Leather Smart Set Tote Bag, available in tan or black, for £109.

Both have already sold out online, having been snapped up within hours of being unveiled.

Made from "subtly grained and soft-to-touch leather", the bag is described as "a lightweight, versatile and practical weekday accessory for the modern woman".

The "generously-sized bag" has an open-top design with "plenty of room to fit whatever you need to get you through the working day".

It has a large exterior slip pocket and two phone-sized slip pockets, one card slot and a zipped pocket inside, and two shoulder straps and a detachable and adjustable crossbody strap.

Each retailer will only stock its own Smart Set piece, rather than the full collection, although John Lewis will also sell the Jigsaw suit.

The collection quickly won praise from fans of Meghan's style.

MadAboutMeghan tweeted: "Really nice price point, selection of sizes, regular & petite sizing. Perfect pieces for a professional wardrobe."

Meghansfashion.com described the tote bag as "gorgeous".
