Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have welcomed a baby boy.

Around 1.45pm news came through that the Duchess of Sussex had gone into labour

Baby Sussex arrived at 5.26am.

Buckingham Palace confirmed this afternoon the Duchess went into labour in the early hours of this morning with husband Prince Harry by her side.

The exciting news went around the world in seconds, and royal fans are delighted with news of a baby boy.

Meghan and Harry have broken from tradition and kept the key details surrounding the birth a secret.

This means we don't know if she's having the baby at home, as she wanted to, or at hospital.

Other royal mums have made these details public, meaning well-wishers gathered outside the hospital to catch a glimpse of the royal baby when mum and dad left.

However there is a chance the couple may choose to post the news on their Instagram page.

Royal birth statements normally include the gender, weight, time of birth and a brief update on how mum is getting on.

After that, we probably won't hear anything more from the couple for a few days.

They are then expected to invite selected members of the press to a small photocall, and pictures will then be circulated.
