Meghan Markle dealt another blow after Dior 'deny collaboration project'

Meghan Markle reportedly won't be the Duchess of Dior after all, despite being heavily linked with a collaboration with the fashion giant.

Following the cancellation of her Spotify podcast after just one season, speculation was rife that the Duchess of Sussex, 41, was set to take on a role with the French fashion house.

But it appears as though the project is over before it even began, with a spokesman for Dior denying there had been any recent contact with Meghan, and no contract negotiations had been touted.

Speaking to Women's Wear Daily, the insiders claimed reports of their link-up were unfounded and were certainly not on the table at present.

Throughout her time as a Royal, Meghan has been seen wearing the designer's outfits. This included at the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

She also wore Dior for the monarch's funeral last September. Husband Prince Harry has also been spotted in the attire, with his latest outing for the coronation of his dad, King Charles, seeing him choose a smart Dior suit.

Rumours had suggested Meghan was set to join the likes of Robert Pattinson and Emma Raducanu as a face for the brand, with some speculation saying she was set to net over $20million for a three year contract.

But the latest comments have poured cold water over the claims, leaving it open for the former Suits star to take on a role with another high-end brand.

It comes after Meghan and Harry's Archetypes podcast was scrapped by Spotify after running it for 12 episodes from August last year.

Meghan chatted to celebrities, historians and experts about the history of stereotypes levelled against women on the programme, interviewing the likes of tennis star Serena Williams, singer Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton and actors Mindy Kaling and Constance Wu.

However, the parting of ways was confirmed by a statement last week from Archewell Audio, the couple’s content creation label, and Spotify.

The joint statement from Archwell and Spotify said: “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”

In December, Archetypes had been awarded the top podcast accolade at the People’s Choice Award in Los Angeles.
