Meghan Markle cried as she breastfed baby Archie and regrets believing she was protected

Meghan Markle cried as she breastfed baby son Archie, whom she shares with husband Prince Harry, he told Oprah Winfrey during their bombshell interview.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born in May 2019, a time that Harry, 36, called "cruel and mean", as Meghan, 39, revealed she even felt suicidal before the couple decided to step back from royal life.

Oprah asked Meghan and Harry if they had any regrets after they decided to step back, and Harry said that he did not, because he was "really proud" of his wife for safely delivering Archie in such a difficult time.

"Every day I was coming back to my life in London and she was crying while breastfeeding Archie - we did what we had to do," he said.

But Meghan replied: "I have one - my regret is believing them when they said I would be protected. And I regret believing that because I think had I really seen that that wasn't happening, I would have been able to do more, but I think I wasn't supposed to see it.

"I wasn't supposed to know and now because we're actually on the other side, we've actually not just survived but are thriving."

Meghan also said when she was pregnant with her first child, she was told there were concerns about how "dark" the baby's skin might be.

She admitted her passport, keys and driver's licence were taken away from her when she became a full-time royal, until the couple quit the Royal Family and moved to America last year.

She also confessed she had dark thoughts during her time in the royal family, saying she "thought it would have solved everything for everyone".

During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, she claims that she went to "the institution" to say she needed help but was told she wasn't allowed to.

She says it was a "real and frightening and constant thought" but that Prince Harry saved her before they quit the royal family a year ago.

Asked by Oprah if he would have ‘stepped back’ from royal life ‘were it not for Meghan,’ Harry replied: "I would not have been able to. I myself was trapped as well. I didn’t see a way out."
