Meghan Markle could 'learn from Princess Anne' who ‘never cashes in on her name'

A royal commentator claims Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could learn a lot from more experienced members of the Firm, like Princess Anne.

It comes after the Queen’s daughter spoke out recently in a magazine interview, saying that younger members of the family do not understand the work she has put in as a Royal over the last few decades.

In a new column for the Daily Mail Jan Moir said Princess Anne has “a lot” she could teach Harry and Meghan, particularly about the choices they make in the public eye.

Ms Moir said the Princess Royal has never attempted to “cash in on her status, push herself into the limelight, or overstay her welcome.”

She added: “She has never tried to endear herself to the public or try to be something she is not.”

Ms Moir’s remarks are in response to Princess Anne’s exclusive Vanity Fair article in which she revealed her own scepticism at how the new generation of the monarchy present themselves.

Princess Anne told the publication: "I don't think this younger generation probably understands what I was doing in the past and it's often true, isn't it?

"You don't necessarily look at the previous generation and say, Oh, you did that?' Or, You went there?

"Nowadays, they're much more looking for, Oh let's do it a new way.

"And I'm already at the stage, 'Please do not reinvent that particular wheel.

"We've been there, done that. Some of these things don't work. You may need to go back to basics."

It is believed Anne may have been referencing Prince Harry’s climate change venture, Travalyst, according to the Daily Star.

In the Vanity Fair interview, Princess Anne also revealed that she put in ten years of work with Save the Children before feeling she had the understanding to take part in public debates on their behalf.

Referencing this, Ms Moir wrote: “All that time with a charity, putting in the hard yards, before you feel knowledgeable enough to make a speech? So admirable. We weren’t ten minutes into the corona emergency before Harry and Meghan were urging the world to use their SussexRoyal website as a conduit of ‘accurate information and facts’.”

Earlier this month, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they will be setting up a new charitable organisation called Archewell.
