Meghan Markle 'clashed' with staff who thought 'who do you think you are'

Meghan Markle "clashed" with staff after marrying into the Royal Family due to the stark differences between palace life and the celebrity world, an expert has claimed.

There were several reports of fallouts between the new Duchess of Sussex and her employees during her early days in The Firm, fueled with several handed in their notice.

According to the Telegraph's royal expert Camilla Tominey, this was down to a "clash of cultures" as Meghan got to the grips with her new royal life.

She told The New Yorker : "I’ve put it down to a clash of cultures, in the sense that she had come from the celebrity world, which is very fast-paced and quite demanding.

"The royal world is very different - it’s much slower-paced, and hugely hierarchical. In the royal world, it’s ‘What should we do next?’ ‘Well, what did we do last time?'

"It's a bit like ‘Downton Abbey’ - there’s a hierarchy of staff who have been at Buckingham Palace for years and years, to serve Queen and country.

"And, therefore, for Harry and Meghan to be making demands, there was a bit of below-stairs chatter, particularly with the Duchess, that was ‘Well, hang on a minute, who do you think you are?’"

Among the staff who left Meghan's side during her two years in the royal spotlight was her "right-hand woman" Amy Pickerill.

Amy was handpicked to be the Duchess's assistant private secretary and accompanied her at official engagements and big events.

Speaking when news of her resignation broke in March last year, a royal source said: "Amy is leaving. It's very sad for her colleagues, as she is a really popular member of staff."

It is understood that Amy, who previously worked for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, left the Royal Household all together and moving abroad.

One of Amy's friends insisted she has a warm relationship with the Duchess.

They told the  Mail : "She has agreed to stay on to help them with the birth of the baby and organise their new household, but will then move on."

PA Melissa Touabti also said goodbye to the Sussexes, quitting her job just six months after the Royal Wedding.

She was heavily involved in organising the historical event and has been credited for all the hard work she put in

Melissa previously worked for Robbie Williams.
