Meghan Markle captures proud moment as Prince Harry skis adaptively

Harry and Meghan attend event marking the World Mental Health Day in New York

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently attended the One Year to Go celebration of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 in Canada. During the event, the couple had a proud moment as Meghan captured a photo of Harry sit-skiing on adaptive skis. She wanted to show their children, 4-year-old Prince Archie and 2-year-old Princess Lilibet, the exciting moment.

Prince Harry has been actively involved in the Invictus Games, an adaptive sports competition for veterans and service personnel, since its launch in 2014. He has expressed his excitement about bringing Archie and Lili to the games and has already introduced them to the concept. He showed Archie a video of wheelchair basketball and rugby from the Invictus Games in Sydney, and the young prince loved it. Prince Harry believes that children understand more than we realize, and seeing their reactions to the athletes' stories was incredibly inspiring.

Becoming a father has added an emotional layer to Prince Harry's involvement with the Invictus Games. He has immense respect for the sacrifices made by the service members and their families. In the past, he made a conscious decision to prioritize his family before settling down, as he didn't want to experience the heartache of being away from them during deployments or risking injury that could change their lives forever.

The Invictus Games have also played a significant role in Prince Harry and Meghan's relationship. They made their first public appearance as a couple at the Toronto Games in 2017. Prince Harry describes the Invictus community as a place where they both felt embraced and supported. It was the perfect environment for them to navigate their public relationship.

The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will mark the introduction of winter sports to the competition. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in alpine skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, Nordic skiing, skeleton, and wheelchair curling, in addition to the core sports of indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair rugby. This expansion reflects the continuous evolution of the Invictus Games.

Prince Harry is thrilled to announce that the Invictus Games Foundation has chosen Canada to host the first-ever Winter Hybrid Games in 2025. The games' introduction of winter sports will further highlight the athletes' abilities and resilience.

Ivan Morera, a Team U.S.A. representative who competed in Germany last year and will participate again in Canada, is excited about the upcoming winter edition. As a single-arm amputee, he has found the Invictus Games to be an opportunity to challenge himself and showcase his physical capabilities, despite his adaptation. He looks forward to meeting Prince Harry and expressing his gratitude for the service and the chance to participate in this remarkable event.

The Invictus Games are not only a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and determination but also a testament to the resilience and unwavering spirit of those who serve in the military. Prince Harry's dedication to the games and his desire to involve his family highlight the impact and significance of this remarkable event. As the Invictus Games continue to evolve, they provide invaluable support to veterans and service personnel, demonstrating that their stories and achievements deserve to be celebrated.
