Meghan Markle 'banned' from wearing royal jewellery and Bristol is divided

It has been widely reported this week that Meghan Markle was reportedly 'banned' from wearing any royal jewellery by The Queen.

Future king of England and the Duchess of Sussex's brother-in-law, Prince William also backed the ban, according to The Sun.

But when it comes to what the Bristol public think, there's a very big divide between whether people think this was fair or not.

One person said: "So she should she wanted to give up royal life so all privileges should end."

Another added: "Just because she married a prince, it doesn’t give her the right to enjoy wearing the royal jewellery!

"She has to earn the right, like everyone else who joined the royal family! She wants all the perks, while giving nothing of herself in return! So sad!"

A third penned: "Anybody who throws their own family under the bus is trash as far as I’m concerned."

However some agreed, saying that the mum-of-one (soon to be mum-of-two) wasn't missing out on much.

One person commented: "Good! She does not want blood on her hands. And besides she’s stunning just the way she is. Does she actually care to carry such burden on her shoulders??"

"Who wants to wear a big old heavy contraption like that anyway. Buy a pretty tiara off Amazon like I did. Looks so much better lol" said another.

A third added: "She doesn't need it. She is already glamourous quite naturally."

"Maybe she doesn’t want to be associated with stolen goods," said a fourth.

The Royal Collection includes hundreds of historic pieces of jewellery including diamond necklaces, brooches and tiaras including the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara that was made for Queen Mary in 1919.

It also includes jewels worn by Meghan's late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

On the contrary to the ex-actress, Kate Middleton has previously been pictured wearing jewellery from the collection, including The Cambridge Lover's Knot Tiara designed by Queen Mary, which became one of Diana's signature tiaras.

Prince Harry also made a touching sacrifice to his sister-in-law before her wedding to the Duke of Cambridge.

Her iconic engagement ring actually belonged to Harry following the death of Princess Diana in 1997, former royal butler Paul Burrell confirmed.

Harry offered his brother the chance to use it instead, though. Reportedly saying: "Wouldn’t it be fitting if she had mummy’s ring?’" to Prince William.

Paul said: "Then one day that ring will be sat on the throne of England. Harry gave up his precious treasure.

“His one thing he kept from his mother, he gave to his brother. That’s selfless, kind and exactly who Diana was.”

He made the comments in an Amazon Prime documentary, it has been reported.
