Meghan Markle appoints Bill Gates’ ex-assistant as chief of staff

The Duchess of Sussex has hired an administrator who previously worked for Bill Gates to be her first chief of staff.

Sarah Fosmo, 45, has been appointed as Meghan Markle’s senior advisor, who will oversee a “dynamic period of growth”, as The Duchess attempts to relaunch her career.

This includes the release of With Love, Meghan, her Netflix lifestyle series, as well as As Ever, her commercial enterprise, and Confessions of a Female Founder, her podcast.

Meanwhile, The Duke of Sussex has hired a new advisor, Lianne Cashin, who was previously the executive assistant to his former chief of staff Josh Kettler.

Prince Harry does not currently have a chief of staff after Mr Kettler failed to make it through his three-month trial period.

Since relocating to the US, the Sussexes have developed a reputation for high staff turnover, having hired and lost a series of senior advisors.

They are hoping these new additions to the team will prove to be the right fit to guide the next chapter of their “ambitious ventures” according to The Telegraph.

A source told the newspaper: “Sarah and Lianne exemplify the strength and vision driving the Duke and Duchess forward.”

Ms Fosmo described herself as a seasoned professional with a long-standing career overseeing complex, high-pressure operations for ultra-high-net-worth clients.

She said she was “adept at navigating high-pressure environments while maintaining a warm, approachable presence and representing principals with poise and professionalism”.

Ms Fosmo previously spent six years in executive administration at Gates Ventures, the private office of Bill Gates, following seven years working for American motivational speaker Tony Robbins.

Ms Fomo has described Gates and Oprah Winfrey as two of her “favourite people.”

Ms Cashin has steadily risen through the ranks at Archewell, the Sussexes’ production company, which she joined shortly after its founding.

She is understood to have been an executive assistant before rising to head of operations before going on to become a consultant.

Ms Cashin formerly served as personal assistant to professional snowboarder Shaun White and is believed to have been involved with Los Padres Polo, the Duke’s polo team.

The Duke and Duchess were spotted enjoying the fifth night of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour in California on Friday.

On Saturday, Meghan uploaded a selection of videos and photos to Instagram, one of which showed her with the Duke of Sussex, who wore a hat that was inscribed with the words “Archie, Lili, My Love”.

She wrote: “About last night…. Thank you @beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love.”
