Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to be offered Spotify megadeal for exclusive podcasts

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to be offered a megadeal to produce podcasts for music streaming giant Spotify.

The platform signed former US First Lady Michelle Obama and now hopes for similar success with lifestyle chat from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Media firms have clamoured to hire the couple for projects since they quit royal duties and moved to a £14million mansion in Santa Barbara, California.

Sources say Spotify – which has 120 million subscribers worldwide – is close to making a seven-figure offer.

An insider said: “Of course, money is no object. Meghan Markle will be more or less able to name her price for exclusively working with them on a podcast series.

“The Duke and Duchess have been on their hit list for a while and a detailed proposal is set to be presented to Meghan’s US agent in a matter of weeks.”

As well as a deal with Michelle Obama, 56, Spotify hired reality star Kim Kardashian, 39, in June. Spotify is worth around £22billion and since lockdown it has gained 2.5 million listeners in the UK alone.

Last week Meghan, 39, took part in an online chat with political activist Gloria Steinem to discuss the importance of voting in the US election.

Staged by media group Makers Women, Meghan also talked about feminism and oppression.

A spokeswoman for Spotify declined to comment.
