Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering relocating to the United States for much of the year.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be considering a move to California.
The royal couple were previously said to be looking at a second home somewhere in Africa.
The potential US move would give the couple a "second base" on the other side of the Atlantic.
Meghan was born in LA in California and her mum Doria Ragland still lives in the state.
A royal source told The Sun : "There’s an acceptance that things haven’t worked out with the Sussexes full-time in Windsor so they could have a second base in America.”
A spokesman for the Sussexes did not comment on the claims when approached by The Sun.
But a source said: "The Duke and Duchess will be taking some family time towards the end of the year, once their diary commitments are done.
"We are unsure at this time but it will likely be spent between the UK and US. Any further inference on their plans is pure speculation."
They had previously been rumoured to be eyeing spending more time in South Africa.
The Sussexes are planning a break in California, as they settled uneasily back into life in Britain following their return from their exhaustive Africa tour.
In an ITV documentary that followed they gave in-depth interviews that revealed the royals were feeling troubled.
