Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'snuck away' from royal tour for secret night out

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave themselves a packed schedule when they travelled to Australia and New Zealand for their first full Royal Tour.

They had 14 flights and 26 official engagements in just 16 days, including stops in Fiji and Tonga.

And despite being 12 weeks pregnant, announcing their happy news on the eve of the big trip, Meghan managed to keep up.

However amid the formal dinners, evening engagement and parties, they did manage to squeeze in a night off and enjoyed a "completely secret evening".

They spent their time off with Meghan's best friend Jessica Mulroney and her husband Ben, enjoying a luxury five-course dinner cooked by a private chef.

In their book Finding Freedom, royal journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand write: "In Sydney to take on engagements and host the fourth Invictus Games, Harry and Meghan managed to sneak out for an evening off with Jessica and Ben Mulroney, the latter of whom was covering the Games for Canada's CTV network.

"A real estate billionaire loaned them his home for an intimate and completely secret evening with a five-course meal prepared for a private chef."

Meghan and Harry also enjoyed some R&R time when they were in Fiji, spending a romantic evening at the luxurious Vatuvara Private Island resort, which is on Kaibu Island.

The stunning resort has just three extremely private and secluded villas, which are all made entirely from natural textures and materials.

Each has its own private beach, infinity pool and comes with a personal masseuse.

It offers a variety of activities including fishing, diving, snorkeling, golf and yoga classes, which Meghan and Harry might have tried out during their stay.

The resort also offers trips to a nearby uninhabited palm-fringed island for a champagne picnic.

The website states: "Vatuvara Private Islands (VPI) offers conscientious luxury to the discerning traveler, with an exclusive experience in the Northern Lau Group of Fiji – described by Forbes Magazine as "one of the world's most beautiful places".

Guests must travel to the island on the resort's private plane.

Tourism Minister Faiyaz Koya confirmed the couple spent the evening at the resort during the trip.

Speaking about their visit to Fiji, he said: "We are proud to host them. This is a worldwide event so it is tremendous for us.

"They are a couple with global appeal to everyone."
