Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell foundation director leaves role after just a year

The director of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Archewell foundation has left her role after just a year.

Catherine St-Laurent joined the charity in April 2020 but has now stepped aside and taken an advisory role, The Mirror reports.

Despite this, her LinkedIn profile says she is still executive director of the charity - and Harry and Meghan's Chief of Staff.

It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hired an Oscar-nominated producer to lead their multimillion-dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify.

Academy Award nominated Ben Browning - who has worked on projects including Late Night, The Big Sick, Arrival and Room - will head up Archewell Productions and Audio.

Before being poached by Meghan and Harry, Ms St-Laurent worked for Bill Gates' charitable ventures for eight years.

Confirming her departure from her hands-on role, a spokesperson said: “She will continue to bring high-level strategic guidance to Archewell, which she helped launch and build over the course of the past year.”

The announcement of St-Laurent’s leaving was made as it was revealed James Holt, the couple’s UK representative, has been named executive director of Archewell.

The New York Post first reported the bombshell news about Ms St-Laurent's departure from Archewell.

It comes after the Sussexes lost various members of staff during their time in the UK, including Meghan's personal assistant, a senior communications officer and their private secretary.

The Times last month reported that Meghan had been accused of bullying Kensington Palace staff in official complaints, however she has denied any wrongdoing and branded the allegations as a 'smear campaign'.
