Prince Harry and Meghan were involved in a jet drama today when their charter plane had to abort a landing in Sydney.
The Qantas royal charter jet carrying The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had to abort its landing after a missed approach at Sydney airport.
The royal couple were in business class, with their royal team and travelling press corps also on board when it was decided to scrap the landing on safety grounds.
Captain Nigel Rosser described the incident as a “missed approach” over the tannoy because there was another jet on the runway which was too slow to move.
The aircraft on the ground, he said, was too slow to roll meaning the decision to abort the landing was taken.
Captain Rosser, of Qantas special charter flight QF6031 from Tonga to Sydney, announced: “Unfortunately there was on aircraft that was a little bit close too slow to roll.
“The decision was decided to abort the landing,” he said.
The incident meant the royal couple's arrival time into Sydney was delayed.
Before they left the Duke and Duchess were driven to the Royal Palace for an audience with King Tupou VI and his wife Queen Nanasipau’u.
The couple entered the wooden, whitewashed palace and spent around 15 minutes inside with the royals.
Harry had changed into a suit following his excursion to the rainforest, but Meghan was still in her blue Veronica Bears shirt dress.
The duke and duchess signed a visitor’s book before they left and then posed outside with the king and queen for photographers.
They also shook hands with the Tongan ruler and his wife, Meghan, noticeably curtsying to the Queen.
