Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in crisis summit with Queen over royal duties snub

The Queen has ordered Prince Harry to meet with her, Prince Charles and Prince William over his plan to quit the royal family with his wife Meghan.

The emergency summit will take place tomorrow at Sandringham.

Meghan is expected to dial into the meeting from Canada after returning across the Atlantic to be reunited with the couple’s son, Archie.

Senior royal aides, Government mandarins from the UK and Canada and law enforcement agencies, including the Met Police, have drawn up a series of proposals.

They will formulate a working plan to try to appease the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who have demanded a way out of their royal lives.

The four principal members of the Royal family will be given written briefings before they meet for the first time since Harry and Meghan announced their intention to resign from their high-profile roles immediately.

The couple said they wanted to become “financially independent” and would split their time between the UK and Canada after struggling to deal with life in the spotlight.

A senior palace source said: “The family will gather on Monday at Sandringham to talk things through. The Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex will meet for the first time.

“Following a series of meetings and consultations across the last few days, there are a range of possibilities for the family to review which take into account the thinking the Sussexes outlined earlier in the week.

“Making a change to the working life and role in the monarchy for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex requires complex and thoughtful discussion.

“Next steps will be agreed at the meeting and the request for this to be resolved at pace is still Her Majesty’s wish. The aim remains this to be in days, not weeks.”

It has emerged that the royal rebels turned to Sir Elton John as they grappled with the decision to quit senior duties.

It is claimed they even told him about their plans before informing the Queen.

An insider said: “He has been their rock. So while he would never tell them what to do, he has been a listening ear and support throughout.”
