Meghan Markle and Prince Harry don masks as they pop in to work at Los Angeles bakery

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry rolled up their sleeves and got baking during a visit to a charity for former gang members and ex-criminals.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wore face masks, gloves and plastic caps to cover their hair to join workers at a bakery run by Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles.

On Wednesday Homeboy Industries uploaded three photos of Meghan and Harry working with the bakers and thanked them for their visit which took place on Tuesday.

The caption read: "Thank you to Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, for their visit yesterday! Our Bakery & Café teams were thrilled to have them work alongside us to #FeedHOPE to Los Angeles."

In one image the couple can be seen attentively rolling out what looks like pastry which will be made into shapes with the guidance of a worker beside them.

A second photo shows Meghan, who is wearing a stylish black face mask, helping a worker who is arranging individual containers with an assortment of bakery delights.

The third picture is of Meghan and Harry with a team of workers around a large metal table which has a variety of kneaded products that are ready to go into the oven.

The post has attracted hundred of comments from fans.

One posted: "This couple will always rise above the chatter! Their input and passion for service is so amazing...watchout world when two hearts that wish to make change join together...its tabernacle fire!"

Another person commented: "Those two are a dream team, so proud of them."

A third wrote: "How wonderful what a great charity. I wish charities put a donation link with the main tweet . Harry and Meghan are brilliant and seems they are associating with similar people there and raising awareness to great charities."

According to Homeboy Industries' website they are the largest gang rehabilitation and re-entry program in the world and stand as a 'beacon of hope'.

The organisation provides training and support to male and female former gang members and ex-prisoners so they can turn their lives around and become 'contributing' members of the community'.

The couple's visit comes as they are said to have signed up with a New York-based agency which has bagged lucrative speaking engagements worth hundreds of thousands of pounds for the likes of Barack Obama.

They have have reportedly signed up with Harry Walker Agency as they settle into their new life in the US.

Their website boasts of representing former Presidents Mr Obama and Bill Clinton, and the latter's and wife and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton - along with a host of stars including actor Matthew McConaughey.

The agency calls itself 'The World's Leading Speakers Bureau'.

In recent years, Mr Obama has earned $400,000 (£320,000) sums for speeches at events held by big firms.
