Meghan Markle and Harry's 'sharp' statement hints royal discussions 'weren't pleasant'

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's "sharp" statement suggests the discussions surrounding them losing their royal roles were "not very pleasant at all", an expert has claimed.

Buckingham Palace released a short statement today revealing the couple will not return to their royal roles after a year-long Megxit trial.

It finished with a line expressing the royal family's sadness at the outcome.

Within three minutes, Meghan and Harry responded with their own statement, which Sky's royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills believes they "don't sound happy" in.

It read: "As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role.

"We can all live a life of service. Service is universal."

ITV's royal editor Chris Ship claims the two statements gave a pretty clear idea of what is going on behind Palace walls.

He said: "Normally with Palace statements you had to dig down to find out what really happened but I don't think you do here.

"It's a pretty sharp way to end there.. I think it rather suggests it wasn't very pleasant at all.

"That jumped out at me as soon as i read it."

The Queen's decision means that Harry and Meghan will lose their royal patronages.

Harry's honorary military appointments, such as Captain General of the Royal Marines that in 2017 he took over from his grandfather Prince Philip after he held the role for 64 years, will now be redistributed to another member of the family.

So too will the patronage of the National Theatre the Queen gifted to former actress Meghan in 2019 after holding it for 45 years.

The news comes just days after Meghan and Harry revealed they are doing a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey about their time in the royal family and their decision to quit.

They also shared a cute pregnancy reveal photo, telling the world they are having another baby later this year.
