This trailer for Harry & Meghan’s new podcast throws up some strong clues about both their contrasting styles of communication and their desire to use tempting ‘insights’ into the ‘real’ Harry and Meghan behind all the global headlines and much sought-for privacy.
They open with a verbal selfie, talking as though not aware the mic is on and showing the loving and flirtatious nature of their relationship.
Clips of what sounds like naturalistic moments like this prior to the more scripted delivery of a podcast are very exciting for the fans, who feel a closer relationship with their heroes, thanks to some shared, pretend eaves-dropping.
When they do hit the record button for the second time we can hear Harry’s keenness to sound youthful, keen and informal.
His ‘ Hi guys, I’m Harry’ is unnecessarily modest considering his profile but it seems to reflect a desire to act accessible and lower his status for these casual chats.

Meghan and Harry talk in emotional terms, with their ‘passion’ for meeting people matching Michelle’s love of conversations that go deep, and Harry referring to ‘amazing people’ and ‘acts of compassion and kindness.’
There is an emphasis on message-sharing in their wording here though, that tells us we will be hearing as much about Harry and Meghan during these podcasts as the guests they choose to interview.
Meghan lets us know that their guests’ stories will ‘remind you of a story about yourself’ and they say they will be finding ‘common ground’ with them.
This is a technique we have seen from the couple before, when they have been prompted to disclose their own emotions and feelings after listening to the same from others, so the hint is that we will be finding out more about the ‘real’ Harry and Meghan as these podcasts are sent out on social media.
