Meghan and Harry's true bond with Clooneys after they admitted 'not knowing' Royals

According to one royal commentator, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's recent Oprah interview may have had repercussions on their celebrity life and mingling with the likes of George and Amal Clooney.

However, since the A-list couple was spotted at the Royal wedding it seems that they might have actually forged a friendship in the last few years.

Here, we take a closer look at how Meghan and Harry might have become friends with George and Amal amid reports of dinner parties and even an Italian holiday in the past.

It appears that Clooney and his barrister wife were first linked to the Sussexes when they headed to the duke and duchess’s royal wedding in 2018. In the snaps, Amal was a vision in yellow and George was suited and booted as they headed into the wedding ceremony. The Clooneys were also privy to the party at Frogmore House following the nuptials.

It has since been reported that the Clooneys claimed at the time that they 'didn't actually know' the newlyweds at the time.

Boris Johnson's sister wrote for AirMail following the wedding: "There’s a story doing the rounds that while Carolyn Bartholomew, Diana’s former flatmate, was waiting for the wedding service to start, she turned to the couple alongside her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan.

"'We don’t', the Clooneys answered brightly."

However, it seems that their 'friendship' actually stepped up a gear in the proceeding months.

While it is unclear how Meghan and Amal became friends, reports also claimed that they had been helping each other adjust to London life following the wedding.

"Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while [and share] many interests," an insider told People magazine in 2018. "Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life. It was a very natural friendship from day one."

In the late summer of 2018, it was also claimed that Harry and Meghan jetted to Italy's Lake Como where they spent time at the Clooney's lavish home.

It isn't just Amal and Meghan that are said to have forged a friendship, according to Omid Scobie , who spoke to to Good Morning America Harry and George also bonded over their hobbies.

“George and Harry have a shared passion for motorcycles and checked out George’s collection and they also played basketball together,” the royal source said at the time.

Speaking about his friendship with the Sussexes, Clooney also told the MailOnline in 2019 that they had enjoyed dinner parties together.

“We live not too far from one another and we have dinners and stuff and we’re friends with them for all the reasons that you're friends with anybody,” the actor told the publication.

“They’re just really nice, fun, kind people. They’re a very loving couple, and they’re going to be great parents.”

It seems like George and Amal are not the only A-listers that are believed to have become part of Harry and Meghan's inner circle.

Having set up a life in a lavish California neighborhood, they also have some glamorous neighbours including Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom. They are also said to share a close friendship with producer David Foster and his wife Katherine McPhee.
