Meghan and Harry's new Instagram account is fastest to reach 1 million followers

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to break a world record of the fastest to gain one million followers on Instagram .

Prince Harry and Meghan have created the official account, under the handle 'SussexRoyal'  on the social media platform on Tuesday afternoon.

The account has amassed one million followers at 9pm, exactly six hours after they created it, it is reported.

It’s believed it makes them the fastest account to reach a million on the platform in history - by almost six hours.

According to the Guinness World Records, the current fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram is 11 hours and 36 minutes, and it was achieved by K-pop star Kang Daniel on January 2, 2019.

They wrote it caption: "Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues.

They even shared a never-before-seen picture from their trip in Fiji last year.

Celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrwo, David Beckham, Zayn Malik and Blake Lively are now a few of the million people following the SussexRoyal account.

Meghan and Harry previously used the Kensington Palace Instagram account, which was joint with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
