Megan Thee Stallion has brilliant reaction to winning first Grammy and making history

Megan Thee Stallion is a star on the rise and the 26-year-old's amazing reaction to her first Grammy Award during this year's pre-ceremony was a joy to see.

The singer made history alongside Beyonce, 39, as they became the first pair of females to win Best Rap Performance at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards with their remix of the hit song Savage.

Their collaboration was also nominated for Best Rap Song and Record of the Year, while Megan was shortlisted in the Best New Artist category.

The talented singer appeared gobsmacked as her jaw dropped on the announcement that she had toppled Lil Baby's The Bigger Picture, Big Sean's Deep Reverence, Pop Smokes Dior, DaBaby's BOP and Jack Harlow's WHATS POPPIN to secure the award Best Rap Performance Award.

Megan and Beyonce also won Best Rap song for the cover, while Megan picked up the award for Best New Artist to make it a clean sweep of wins from her nominations.

She become the first female rapper to win the new artist award since 1999.

Taking to the stage to receive her Best New Artist award from her friend Lizzo, Megan had to take a moment to compose herself.

She said: "I don't want to cry. But first of all I want to say everybody is amazing. Every artist that was nominated for this award is so amazing. So shout out to all y’all."

She also thanked her label and her late mother for supporting her. "It has been a hell of a year but we made it," she added.

Megan paid another special tribute to Queen Bey in her speech by revealing that ever since she was young she had wanted to be "the rap Beyonce".

Beyonce received the most nominations at this year's Grammy Awards after being shortlisted in nine categories.

She had already landed two awards before the main awards, including the historic award with Megan, at the pre-ceremony.

She also shared the award for Best Music Video for Brown Skin Girl from The Lion King: The Gift with her daughter Blue Ivy who became the youngest ever winner of a grammy at nine years old.
