Megan Fox's tattoos, meanings and controversial removal amid topless pic confusion

Megan Fox has lots of tattoos which hold different meanings to her - and recently one caused a bit of confusion for one hapless bloke.

The Transformers actress posted some snaps with fiancé Machine Gun Kelly in one of the costumes she wore for Halloween this year, but got a backlash from a troll who accused her of not shaving her bikini line.

Megan hit back with a hilarious response, while also pointing out that it wasn't actually her hair, it was a tattoo she has on her pelvic bone.

It's believed the 36-year-old has at least 10 inkings on her body, ranging from meaningful quotes to special symbols, and she even got one removed for a controversial reason.

Megan got her first tattoo at the age of 18 - a protrait of Marilyn Monroe on her forearm - because she idolised the actress.

"She was one of the first people I saw on television, like, literally moments after I was born," she explained in 2009 to the New York Times.

"Every time I heard her voice growing up I would always cry. I wouldn’t know why when I was younger, but now have my own theories. I've just always empathised with her."

The same year, she told Us Weekly that she got the tattoo as a "warning" to herself.

"I really admire Marilyn Monroe, but I would never try to emulate her. I got the tattoo as a warning. It warns me not to let myself be treated so badly by the film industry so that it breaks me down," she said.

However, in 2011, the Hollywood star revealed she was having the tat lasered off her right arm because she felt it had 'negative energy'.

Revealing her reason to Italian magazine Amica, she explained: "I'm removing it. She was a negative person, she was disturbed, bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life."

Megan also stated that she "went through a phase" of trying to rid herself of anything that she believed carried negativity.

She later added: "It's not that I don't love her — I got it in the first place because everyone loves Marilyn. But she suffered a lot."

On the back of her neck, the actress has the Chinese symbol for 'strength', but it's only visible when she ties her hair up.

The Jennifer's Body has a black symbol on her wrist which loosely resembles ying and yang, as well as a moon on top of a blue star on her ankle, which is believed to be because she has an interest in astrology.

Megan also has a number of tats that relate to her fiance, with the pair showing off one of their matching designs in May this year.

In a symbol of their love, Machine Gun Kelly and the actress got tattoos of a voodoo doll with a heart at the center on their ring fingers.

In October 2021, they got hold of a tattoo gun to ink the words 'the darkest fairytale' on one another, a phrase which she said "alludes back to one of the first text messages we ever sent each other".

MGK got the words etched along his right hip bone, while Megan's was on her left forearm.

Back in November 2020 at the American Music Awards, Megan showed off her collarbone tattoo for the first time which had the word "el pistolero".

It's Spanish for "gunfighter", so many people have assumed that it is a tribute to Machine Gun Kelly.

That's not the only inking that Megan has got for a partner, as she had her ex-husband's name permantly put onto her hip.

The actress started a relationship with Brian Austin Green, with whom she has three kids with, in 2004 and the pair got married in 2010,

They briefly separated in 2015, got back together the following year, then broke up for good in early 2020 and divorced later that year.

On her back, Megan has a reference the final scene Shakespeare play King Lear, which reads: "We will all laugh at gilded butterflies."

It's not a direct quote, but it relates to act five scene three, in which the Bard writes: "So we'll live, and pray, and sing, and tell old tales, and laugh at gilded butterflies."

She also has a quote which has been attributed to Friedrich Nietzsche, a 19th-century German philosopher and cultural critic.

"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music", is inked down the bottom of her back.

Fox told MTV that she got the tattoo "sort of" in honor of her Passion Play co-star Mickey Rourke, but later clarified that it's "not necessarily a homage to him."

"It was not about that. I have a tattoo that is a Nietzsche quote that sort of basically is about marching to the beat of your own drummer and not being afraid to do that," she said.

"I was saying that it reminds me of Mickey, of course, because he clearly is not marching to anyone else's drummer, drumbeat, and that's all."

Strangely, when Megan did a photoshoot for French Grazia back in 2012, they decided to photoshop one of her tats off for the front cover.

Her Shakespeare quote from King Lear was kept in, while German philosopher Nietzche's musings were edited out.

The strangest part was that the tattoo was visible when they replicated the shot inside the glossy mag.

She also has a poem on the other side which reads: "There once was a little girl, who never knew love until a boy broke her heart."

Megan's tattoos inadvertently became a topic of conversation this weekend after a social media troll mistook one for something rather different.

The actress posted a carousel of behind-the-scenes pictures from her recent Halloween shoot with MGK, showing fans how she got into character.

In one of the pictures, the side of one of Megan's intricate tattoos was visible near her bikini line – and one fan mistook it for an unshaven patch.

The nasty person tried to have a go at Megan for not shaving her bikini line, which wasn't the case, not that it would have been an issue if she hadn't.

"All that money and she can’t but a razor," the vile troll quipped. "She's now off my 'list'."

Coming back with an incredible response, Meghan asked: "Are you mistakenly referring to my tattoo?"

To the delight of her fans, she added: "Either way I'm devastated to be off your list. Was hoping you'd wife me."

Many of Megan's followers came in to defend her, with one writing: "As if Megan Fox would give two s**ts about being off your list. She's a queen. Get a reality check."

"Oh and by the way, it’s 2022, if she wanted a hairy vag who cares!! But it’s blatantly a tattoo so jokes on you," added another.

While a third agreed: "Get off your high horse dude you’ll never even be close enough to see one hair on her body."
