Megan Barton Hanson revealed her “whole world is crumbling” as she tried to scrape ex-boyfriend Wes Nelson’s name off a personalised Christmas gift.
The former Love Island contestant filmed herself using a wooden cheeseboard, engraved with the words “Megan and Wes” for the first time since their split last weekend.
“So my mum got me and Wes a cheeseboard for Christmas after our cheese and wine night and I didn’t get a chance to use it,” she said before picking up a cheese knife and scraping at Nelson’s name.
“Unless these cheese tools can come in handy,” she added.
The couple called time on their short-lived romance on Saturday, months after meeting on Love Island. They posted a tongue-in-cheek break up announcement on Instagram, parodying Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow’s famous “consciously uncoupling” statement.
The reality TV couple swapped Martin and Paltrow’s mention of their “two wonderful children” for their pet hamster, Jon Snow.
Nelson later shared a series of memes which mocked the statement, alongside laughing emojis. But Barton Hanson is clearly struggling to see the funny side and posted an emotional Instagram message, telling fans she has had one of the “worst days of my life”.
She wrote: “I can’t thank you all enough for your support. It makes it all worthwhile. (The endless trolling, negative stories, dealing with publicly breaking up, being papped having to force a smile when my whole world is crumbling.)
“Feels like I can’t put a foot right BUT knowing I can help motivate/ inspire people even a TINY bit makes me want to continue on in the public eye. I’m determined to make 2019 a positive year.”
Barton Hanson sat front row to cheer on Nelson at Sunday night’s Dancing on Ice, where he topped the leader board with his professional partner Vanessa Bauer.
Barton Hanson previously hit out at the skater, accusing her of being unfriendly and not inviting her to get involved with Nelson’s training.
She also accused Bauer of tactically breaking up with her boyfriend on the night of Nelson’s debut on the ice.
