Megan Barton Hanson disables Instagram comments as fans slam her 'cringe' statement

Megan Barton Hanson has disabled comments on her most recent Instagram post after slamming Dancing on Ice professional Vanessa Bauer in an inflammatory statement.

The former Love Island star accused the skater, who has been teamed with Barton Hanson’s boyfriend Wes Nelson, of making a “tactical” break-up announcement to coincide with the pair’s dance debut on Sunday night.

In the Instagram Story, which has since been deleted, Barton Hanson accused Bauer of wanting to make “headlines” by announcing her split from Louis Nathaniel shortly before the show aired.

She also sad that the pro had “never reached out to me once or invited me to watch [Wes] train.”

“Don’t know if I should feel sorry for Megan or Vanessa, one way or another this is affecting the partnership Wes has with Vanessa on DOI,” one user wrote, adding: “I cringe at what Megan did thou[gh], talk about women empowerment.”

“Megan Barton Hanson continuously speaks out about social media and bullying online etc – yet she publicly tried to humiliate and intimidate Vanessa Bauer on Instagram,” another wrote.

“I’m honestly shocked at this attack on Vanessa,” another of the show’s fans added. “Why does Vanessa need to make eye contact and make the effort? Surely Megan should as well?”

Nelson defended his girlfriend on Instagram hours after she was accused of looking sour-faced during Sunday night's live show. He wrote: “Give the damn girl a break.

“Oh and give it a rest with this Dancing on Ice curse b******* as well it’s laughable.”

Standard Online has contacted Barton Hanson's representatives for comment.
