Megadeth's Dave Mustaine power-chords for Rick Santorum

Policito is reporting that Rick Santorum has picked up another key endorsement today:

You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House … and that it's Rick Santorum.

That would be none other than Dave Mustaine, Metallica reject and head honcho of heavy metal juggernaut Megadeth. The phenomenon of metal heads going ultra-right wing is not new: Ted "Catscratch Fever" Nugent is an outspoken supporter of gun rights and a conservative author and talk show regular.

For his part, Mustaine is the singer of songs Go To Hell, which we humbly suggest would make a nice campaign song for Santorum, and The Right to Go Insane, which is plainly enshrouded in the 666th Amendment.

To be fair, this isn't Mustaine's first foray into politics. In 1992 the rocker was a correspondent for MTV's Choose or Lose. Here he is at the Democratic Convention at Madison Square Garden in New York City – when Bill Clinton and Al Gore accepted their party's nomination – talking to a wide swath of Democratic supporters, protesters and delegates. Also Oliver Stone.
