A single ticket for the Mega Millions jackpot sold in California matched all six numbers _ white balls 17, 19, 27, 40, 68 and gold Mega ball 2 _ to win the $530 million jackpot in Friday's drawing, according to lottery officials.
It wasn't immediately clear where the ticket was sold.
The jackpot is the largest since last October's run to $1.5 billion. The current jackpot has been rolling since it was last won in Missouri on March 12. Others awarded this year include $437 million in New York on Jan. 1 and $273 million in New Jersey on March 1.
In addition to the jackpot-winning ticket, there were more than 1.7 million winning tickets at all prize levels Friday. Three tickets matched the five white balls to win the game's $1 million second prize _ they were sold in Arizona, California and Washington.
Lottery officials said the next drawing on Tuesday resets to its starting value of $40 million.
