Mega cruise ship, Ryanair stop woman boarding and Walton Lane roadworks

Norwegian Getaway cruise liner with five water slides docked at the waterfront

The Norwegian Getaway has docked at Liverpool waterfront.

The mega ship arrived in Liverpool at around 7.30am on Wednesday, April 4 after travelling across the Atlantic from New York and spending a few days in Nova Scotia, Canada. It has a capacity of almost 4,000 across 18 decks and embarked on its maiden voyage in February 2014.

The Norwegian Getaway features a flame-haired mermaid riding the waves painted across the lower decks. It also has five water slides, 20 dining options and Broadway musical productions on offer.

It will leave Liverpool tonight at 6pm. From Liverpool it will go on to Cork in Ireland then to Dorset, before crossing to France and then arriving at its last port in Southampton on May 8.

Ryanair stop woman boarding plane to Ibiza over passport issue

A woman has spoken out about her 'nightmare' experience after being refused to travel on a Ryanair flight.

Caroline Smith was travelling to Ibiza with her husband Dan on April 28 to mark their 10th wedding anniversary along with his 40th birthday. The couple had already checked in online and were ready for departure from London Stansted airport.

As Caroline attempted to board the flight she was told there was an issue with her passport, NottinghamshireLive reports.

Walton Lane roadworks start up again

Another roadworks programme has started up on Walton Lane.

Liverpool Council has confirmed overnight works will start on Walton Lane having got underway for the first time in February. The scheme is expected to finish by the end of this month with works taking place from 7pm to 6am Monday to Friday.

Work started on Walton Lane three months ago when a design review was implemented on County Road after the project’s Christmas hiatus. However, progress was paused on Walton Lane once again.
