Meg Purser to be honoured at Divas event

Legacy: Meg Purser

CHARITY event Divas on the Green - cancelled last year due to COVID-19 - will be held on May 28 and honour respected Hunter businesswoman Meg Purser.

Organiser Michelle Faithfull said the golfing event happened to coincide with the birthday of Purser, who succumbed to breast cancer on January 14.

"I am now more determined than ever to make [the 2021 event] happen, and the day will be in honour of and in celebration of Meg," she said. "She's left a massive hole in our community and many are still reeling from the shock ... She's left a shining, inspirational legacy for us all to remember her by."

Ms Faithfull, Citizen of the Year in Newcastle in 2020, is looking into hiring a marquee to accommodate more people at the event at Merewether Golf Club and has appealed for sponsors to contact her.

"It won't be cheap. I'm gathering quotes from local marquee suppliers and once I know what I'm up for, I'll be looking for sponsors to help cover some of the cost. So if you know anyone that might be keen to jump on board and help, please feel free to share this email with them," she said.
