'Meffs' snatch Iceland bag and worn clothes from cars

A bag for life, worn clothes, and football boots are just some of the items snatched from cars overnight.

Thieves, caught as part of an operation targeting gangs in South Sefton, also grabbed a car key in a bid to steal a vehicle.

At around 6am on Tuesday (October 19), in Netherton, police officers attempted to stop three men who they believed had been involved in theft from vehicles.

Two men, aged 33 and 38, from Netherton, were detained by police and were arrested, while the third got away.

Officers later found a number of suspected stolen items when they searched a home.

The two men arrested have been released under investigation pending further enquiries

The third men has since been identified by officers.

Responding to a post on Sefton Police's Facebook page, one woman wrote: "Rooting through someone's car is feral behaviour."

Another wrote: "Absolute meffs."
