Meet the world’s worst Miami Dolphins fan

No matter what thoughts and impressions ran through the heads of Miami Dolphins fans when it was announced they’d traded for Arizona quarterback Josh Rosen, it’s pretty safe to assume no one took it quite as hard as this guy.

Live in attendance at the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville, our former Dolphins fan was so upset that Miami had acquired Rosen that he decided to disown the team in the heat of the moment and declared himself a Carolina Panthers fan instead.

“This is singlehandedly the worst trade in the history of the Miami Dolphins. I am officially a Carolina Panthers fan.”

Rest assured — no matter how the Josh Rosen experience ends in Miami, this is hardly the worst trade in team history. As a matter of fact, it’s quite the opposite.

But this young man’s reaction highlights a very real mindset of many Dolphins fans — one that is fearful of complacency.

“… it would be okay if Rosen does such a terrible job that we end up with the first overall pick to get Tua Tagovailoa. But if it actually works out where we are going 7-9 every single season like we have been for the last 20 years since Dan Marino left, I’m not okay with that.”

Ah, there it is. The Tagovailoa obsession strikes again. Is Tua Tagovailoa not an unknown asset in the NFL? He’s a very, very good college quarterback. And he has a great chance to be a strong starting quarterback in the NFL. But Miami isn’t supposed to just put their collective lives on hold for a college passer who we won’t see in the pros for 16 months at a minimum, are they? There’s a job to do.

And if Josh Rosen is able to thrive in Miami, the Dolphins will have stole him. Miami’s struggles have conditioned portions their fan base to remain pessimistic. It’s understandable — to a certain degree. Most certainly not to the point where we need to jump ship just as it seems general manager Chris Grier found a way to have his cake and eat it, too.
