Meet the postman donning fancy dress to cheer up customers and support NHS

Individuals across the country have been doing their best to put a smile on people's faces during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among them is postman Glen Walton who has been donning fancy dress during his rounds in Mansfield Woodhouse.

The 36 year old came up with the idea to raise much needed funds for the NHS.

He said: "Normally when you go out you get to talk to people, meet people and obviously that can't happen at the minute but it's one of the perks of my job - its why I really enjoy my job.

"I do my rounds and nobody is smiling, everyone is so down and I just wanted to cheer everyone up a bit."

Glen set up a Just Giving page in an effort to raise funds for The National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal.

His appeal states: "I've decided to start wearing a fancy dress outfit for each day I'm at work, to try and bring a bit of happiness to the streets of Mansfield Woodhouse and hopefully raise some money while I'm at it."

Aside from his day-job, Glen is an amateur wrestler - so his costume for day one was sorted.

He added: "I just wanted to do something. So I asked the bosses at Royal Mail if they minded me wearing fancy dress whilst I worked and they were happy enough for me to go ahead with it."

At the time of writing, Glen had reached 90% of his £250 target and had raised £225 for the NHS.
