Meet the one-year-old Nottingham boy who's a dead ringer for Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The mum of a 19-month-old boy has explained why her family joke that he looks like Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Initially full-time mum Nikkie Newton, 27, thought family members were being 'harsh' when they said young Theo Marshall resembled the leader of the Conservative Party.

But after a recent photo she's come to agree with the likeness, which she puts down to her son's 'messy' hair.

The mum-of-one, who lives in Colwick, said: "I thought they were being a bit horrible and harsh.

"(I would say) 'no, he doesn't look like Boris - leave him alone'. But now I have seen it myself.

"You wouldn't think it but now I have accepted he does resemble Boris."

Speaking of her son's hair, she said: "It's messy and it stays that way. It's hard to tame. It stays like how Boris' does.

"I do find it funny. At first I thought they were being a bit horrible - but now I find it funny.

"I have just noticed - it's literally his hair, it just completely makes him look like him.

"I think If he didn't have his hair, then no, he wouldn't so much but it's the hair that does it."

She added: "My older sister she showed me a picture of Theo yesterday, [when] he was probably about 10 months - she's thought it for a lot longer than I've seen it [the likeness]."

Theo's aunt Laurie-Beth Newton, a 29-year-old support worker, who lives in Aspley, said it was a "little light-hearted joke".

"Sometimes I have seen photos of Boris and his hair is windswept - that's how Theo's looks like sometimes," she said.

"(It's) ever since his hair has grown a little bit longer."

Theo's dad Ben Marshall, of St Ann's, explained he also saw the funny side.

"I do not call him Boris," the 26-year-old warehouse worker said.

"It was just a one-time photo - he just looked like Boris at that time I took the photo."
