Meet the Manchester pianist who won Ant and Dec's hearts on Britain's Got Talent

Pianist Jon Courtenay won hearts when he performed a self-composed number on Britain's Got Talent.

Jon, from Manchester, was sent sailing straight into the live shows after receiving a surprise golden buzzer from the side of the stage.

Jon's self-deprecating song about his life as an entertainer and his family impressed hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly so much they raced onto the stage to press their buzzer.

Each judge and the hosts have the opportunity to pick an act to bypass the next stage of the ITV talent contest - and Ant and Dec picked Jon.

The pair ran forward to activate the golden ticker-tape after Jon received a standing ovation from the judges and audience.

In the crowd were his sons, and the youngest was in tears as Jon paid homage to him in his self-penned song about his hopes and dreams.

And as the ticker-tape rained down he was joined on stage by his teenage boy.

Jon started his career as a comedy magician then added the piano to his act.

According to his website Twisted Pianist he's 'the world’s greatest (and probably only) singing, piano-playing, comedy magician.'

He performs original songs and parodies plus hilarious tales of his family, relationships and his life travelling the world as an entertainer.

After his emotional act the praise came pouring in from the judges.

"You've made me fall to bits," said Amanda Holden.

"It was just a wonderful auditon and we all want you to do well," said Simon Cowell.

"Absolutely amazing, you had me in tears!!!" exclaimed one fan on Twitter.

"Super excited to see you on BGT and knew you would smash it!! Congratulations Jon so well deserved xx" said another.

"This pianist singer is best so far tonight! That was so unique!" said an impressed BGT viewer.
