Captain Kristen Griest and Lieutenant Shaye Haver become the first female graduates of the Army's 62-day Ranger school.
The pair have received their elite tabs alongside 94 male soldiers. Lieutenant Haver told reporters what the historic moment meant to her.
"It's awesome to be part of the history of Ranger School in general, and graduating with these guys next to me, and the 90-plus other Ranger students will probably be the highlight of my life."

Lieutenant Haver graduated high school in 2008 where she ran cross country. She graduated from West Point in 2012, the Copperas Cove Herald reported.
Captain Griest was promoted to captain and an honour graduate in a preparatory pre-Ranger School. She was a competitive runner and graduated from West Point in 2011, the Washington Post reported.

However, the female soldiers are not able to apply for the 75th Ranger Regiment, because of their gender. Jimmy Williams at Blue Nation Review described the impact that the pair will have on future women in the military.
"This folks is progress. We talk a lot about breaking the glass ceilings in business but in the military, women sill make up less than 15% of our entire active duty military. According to 2013 data, there are more than 200,000 women in the ranks including 69 generals and admirals."
CNN reports that the Pentagon will release details on the female soldiers' future, which isn't immediately clear.
