Meet the eight Edinburgh snakes who need to find forever homes

The Scottish SPCA has launched an appeal to find homes for eight cornsnakes.

The charity is seeking animal lovers that would be interested in rescuing a scaly companion from its centre in Edinburgh.

While snakes are often overlooked for pets of the furry variety, these eights snakes could slither in to your hearts with their adorable personalities.

Scottish SPCA said: "Anyone looking to rehome one of the cornsnakes must have the correct set up. We’re looking for homes that have knowledge of, or an interest in, snake husbandry.

"And, of course, our staff are always happy to give advice and support to new owners, especially if it’s their first time owning a reptile."

Let's meet the snakes:

Clarence

Poor Clarence is the longest serving reptile resident and has been looking for his forever home for 1,300 days. He has a feisty personality and can be a little bit of a fussy eater. He would require an experienced snake owner who could monitor his food uptake.

Coto

Another fussy eater, Coto is a little skinny and would require an owner who can help him pile on the pounds. He has been waiting patiently for his new owner for 600 days. He is an outgoing cornsnake, who enjoys being handled.

Smith

Smith is the resident newbie and is still a little wary of people and being touched. However, it is likely that with caring, human interaction, his personality will shine.

Scorch

Sadly, Scorch was found as a stray with an injury which resulted in him having the tip of his tail amputated. However, he is still incredibly friendly and happy to slither in and out of your fingers before resting over your arm.

Stu, Steve, Scout and Grace

These four have been described as friendly snakes who love being handled. Their outgoing personalities would make them the perfect companions for someone who has done a little research and wants to re-home their first ever snakey friend.
