Meet the ecologists looking at the plans for Nottingham Forest's City Ground redevelopment

The ecologists tasked with carrying out how Nottingham Forest's City Ground redevelopment will affect the environment have been revealed.

The planning application was submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council on November 29 and outlined a multi-million pound proposal to redevelop the City Ground, increasing its capacity to 38,000.

The redevelopment will involve around £100m of investment and as well as additional seating in the Peter Taylor Stand, new state of the art dressing rooms, a museum, club shop, executive boxes and media suites will also be included.

Improvements will also be made to the other three sides of the ground, with the Bridgford Stand also extended.

The opportunity for ecologists RammSanderson to get involved in the City Ground project happened as a result of works the company had carried out for another building company which involved overseeing the re-siting of a badger sett on land next to Forest's training ground in Wilford.

RammSanderson director, Nick Sanderson, who is a life-long Forest fan carried out the assessment.

He said: “It was great that Forest remembered the work and invited us to be involved in helping to assess the impact the stadium redevelopment might have on wildlife and habitats.

"We did a very thorough assessment and our impartial findings will now help planners decide whether to grant permission.

"Whilst it is exciting to be able to look forward to re-shaping the City Ground to meet the ambitions of the club and its supporters, we have to be mindful of our responsibility to the environment around us."

RammSanderson, based in Derby, has been working alongside architects Benoy and property and land agents Savills.

The company employs 45 people across offices located in Ilkeston, Stafford and Sheffield.
