Meet the Christmas Day babies born on Merseyside today

Father Christmas dropped off extra special gifts to these lucky couples who celebrated the birth of Christmas Day babies.

All those born at Wirral's Arrowe Park hospital were to first-time parents.

Emily Arathoon gave birth to Harvey at 7.45am today.

Weighing in at 7lb exactly, Harvey was an unexpectedly early arrival - he was due on Boxing Day.

Emily, who celebrated the birth with her partner Morgan (both 19), from Neston , said: "He's brill. It still doesn't feel real.

"We only found out yesterday he was going to be born on Christmas Day, a day earlier than expected.

"It's going to be expensive when he's old enough for presents. We'll have to have a different day for his birthday."

Another set of first-time parents were Matthew O'Donoghue and his partner Stephanie Sharp, who gave birth to Poppy at 1.24am.

Weighing 7lb 9oz, Poppy was another baby who couldn't wait to celebrate Christmas - she was expected on the 28th.

Stephanie, 31, from Little Sutton , said: "She's our little Christmas present.

"It means no-one will ever forget the date of her birthday.

"I'm feeling a bit in shock and in awe. It's quite an overwhelming thing."

Baby Max, meanwhile, will have no fewer than three citizenships. His mum Alena is Russian, while dad Alex is British-Canadian.

For Alena, 22, the baby being born on Christmas Day - at 2.38am, weighing just over 6lb - is not such a big deal.

She said: "In Russia our Christmas is on a different date than yours, and also it's not a big thing for us. The New Year is the main holiday.

"The date of December 25 will mean more to my husband's family."

At Whiston Hospital , the first Christmas Day baby to be born was Milo James Cooke, arriving at 01.46am and weighing 6lb 13oz.

Born to mum Georgina and dad Chris, mum is originally from Liverpool but is based with the RAF in Oxfordshire.

However, Milo decided he was going to make an appearance early on their Christmas visit home.
