Meet Winifred Russell one of Liverpool's oldest graduates who has just got her degree at 95-years-old.
The former teacher attended Hope’s founding colleges, more than 50 years ago, however the course she studied wasn't then classed as a degree.
However now the course is recognised as an official degree and in a bid to acknowledge Mrs Russell's years of studying and then dedication to her pupils, Hope University put on a very special graduation ceremony.
And it was there that the mum and more than 600 others - many retired teachers now in their 80s and 90s - were celebrated at an Honorary Bachelor of Education presentation.
Winifred from Wavertree was one of the oldest graduates on the day and said "teaching was one of the best things she could have ever done".
She told the ECHO: "I loved teaching.
"I used to love to find a child that you knew had intelligence but didn't get encouragement - so I gave them homework, which a lot of schools didn't and a lot of teachers didn't.
"I loved to see a child wanting to learn and I loved seeing a child that didn't have much behind them but had the ability to get on.
"Teaching was the best thing I could have done."
Speaking about her time studying, she added: "They were there for you and you weren’t frightened of saying ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I don’t understand’.
"Somebody was always there to help me and it made me want to teach even more."
