Meet Ruaidhri Linden - the 19-year-old TikToker from Co Down building a community with his viewers

Meet the Co Down teenager creating his own community on TikTok.

Ruaidhri Linden, from Warrenpoint in Co Down, has been on the popular video app for two years now, but has only recently started to create regular videos.

In that time, the 19-year-old - who also makes social media videos for companies across the globe - has amassed 15,000 followers and three million likes on TikTok.

He has also had the opportunity to rub shoulders with celebrities at events such as Paris Fashion Week, all while holding down a job at Superdrug.

Ruaidhri, whose TikTok handle is @lifeofroryofficial, told Belfast Live about his love for the app and what you can expect from his content, as well as his future plans.

He said: "I joined TikTok two years ago but only recently started pumping videos out regularly, I think one of my first videos to go viral was with my mum. In the video I was putting items in her trolley and she was taking them out as I was putting them in and getting angry - it was quite funny.

"I would say my content is pretty unique - one second I’m hanging out with celebrities and going to Paris Fashion Week and the next second I’m working in Superdrug making funny dances in the staff kitchen.

"I think a lot of people relate to my content because I’m not false, my life is crazy and I try and show as much of it as possible and I think people really respect that and find it funny because they never know what to expect with me."

The 19-year-old was originally attracted to the app as its algorithm means you don't need a tonne of followers to go "viral" - you just need good content that people enjoy.

And luckily, throughout his experience on TikTok, he's been able to create a steady community of viewers.

Ruaidhri said: "What attracted me to the app was the ability to put videos out on TikTok and not need to rely on having hundreds of followers for the video to go 'viral' - anyone and everyone has a chance as long as they are making good content.

"My favourite part of TikTok is seeing people's reaction to my videos, I love replying to my viewers and getting feedback from them.

"I’ve created a community with the people that follow me and I love watching them interact with each other under my videos and spark conversations.

"I like to think that me and my viewers have a lot of inside jokes together and I think that’s pretty cool."

As for his future plans, Ruaidhri is hoping to continue creating content people across the world can enjoy.

He said: "In the future, I would like to grow my account on TikTok and branch out to other platforms such as YouTube, I can really see myself in the future doing videos for a living."
