The multi-billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has four children with his ex wife, novelist MacKenzie Scott.
Bezos has three sons and one daughter yet, surprisingly for the children of the world's wealthiest man, they remain somewhat in the shadows.
Bezos married ex-wife Scott in 1993, having met at the hedge fund D.E Shaw where they both used to work.
The pair divorced in 2019, with the couple now sharing child custody.
After 25 years of marriage, the couple released a statement via Twitter, saying, "As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends."
Jeff Bezos' children
The eldest, 21 year-old Preston Bezos, was born in 2000 and is currently at Princeton University, the highly academic university his father graduated from in 1986.
Preston Bezos is similar to Jeff Bezos, in more ways than one — being named after his father's middle name — Jeffrey Preston Bezos.
It is reported that Preston's mum, Mackenzie Scott, received the equivalent of £27 billion in Amazon stocks following the pair's divorce settlement.
Bezos and Scott adopted their one-and-only daughter, from China. Her name remains unknown, but she is believed to be the youngest of the family.
The other two son's - believed to be teenagers - also remain unknown.
Jeff Bezos' parents
Bezos was born to Jacklyn and Ted Jorgensen when Jacklyn was only 17 years-old and still in high school.
According to the Sun, his parents separated in 1965.
Jacklyn went on to meet Jeff's now step-father Miguel ‘Mike’ Bezos, who adopted him as a child.
Mike was an engineer at the oil and gas firm Exxon Mobil and he moved with Jeff and his mother when Bezos was four years old.
Bezos's parents lent him $245,000 or £180,000 to begin what would go on to become Amazon. It is believed Bezos is now worth more than $200 billion.
In February Bezos announced he would be stepping down as Amazon's CEO, having amassed further wealth during the pandemic.
"Being the CEO of Amazon is a deep responsibility, and it's consuming," he wrote at the time.
"When you have a responsibility like that, it's hard to put attention on anything else."
"I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions.
"I've never had more energy, and this isn't about retiring."
