Meet Dumbarton and Vale babies who made their arrivals during coronavirus lockdown

Babies born across Dumbarton and the Vale during the coronavirus pandemic have been hailed as a ray of light in the darkness.

But the new arrivals are still waiting to meet doting extended family members because of lockdown restrictions.

They include little Flynn Jackson McConnell, who made his appearance on April 2.

Caleb Brown was born on March 29 at 5.32pm, weighing 7lb 10oz.

And adorable Lucia Margaret Ramage was born on April 7 at the RAH.

Proud dad Tom McConnell, 31, said the family are enjoying spending lots of special time with their gorgeous baby boy Flynn at their home in Tullichewan.

He told the Lennox Herald he had to drop his partner Gail Russell at the door of the Royal Alexandra Hospital to adhere to the strict rules.

The couple, who also have 10-year-old son Dexter, had to stay apart until right before the birth.

He said: “I had to drop mother and bump on the evening at the door to be induced and wait to be summoned back upon labour coming.

“I arrived back at 4am to be there for the birth and Flynn arrived at 9.52am, with both mum and baby healthy. I stayed for a few hours but then had to go home at 12.45pm.

“They were both kept another night for blood tests and I came to pick them up on the Friday afternoon. Both mum and baby are doing really well.

“It was a long time for us to be apart when we would’ve preferred to be a strong unit together but it was necessary in these times.”

Tom said Flynn’s overjoyed grannies are desperate for a cuddle: “They really want to meet him but we’ve been sending plenty of pictures, which will have to do for now.

“We obviously can’t take him out but we are staying home and keeping ourselves busy, which he is helping us do.

“We’re loving having him home and Dexter is enjoying being big brother.

“I wasn’t going to get much time off from my work after his birth so it’s been nice getting to spend quality time together as a family.”
