Meet Bruce the SINGING three-legged cat who is looking for a new home

A three-legged cat who likes nothing more than singing along to The Nolan Sisters is looking for a new home.

Bruce – also known as Onyx - who lost his leg in a road accident, is looking for his fur-ever home, where he can spend his days crooning along to his favourite girl band

The musical moggy is currently living with his foster carer Tina.

But due to her needing an operation which means she can no longer care for him, he is looking for a new owner to which to he can showcase his talents.

Tina, who is a volunteer foster carer for Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Barrow Gurney, first discovered Bruce’s unusual talent when her neighbours were playing music.

“My neighbours had some music on and then suddenly Bruce started mewing, “ said Tina.

“And remarkably it was in tune.

“He loves singing. Every time he hears music or I put the telly on he starts.

“It’s like he is drawn to it the minute it starts.

“I told my neighbours about it and asked what music they were playing as initially I thought it was Abba.

“But they said it was The Nolan Sisters. He seems to like them.”

Not only is Bruce a crooner, he’s also quite a chatty fella too.

“It’s like you can actually have a proper conversation with him,” said Tina.

“Although obviously his side is cat language.

“But I can sit there and talk away to him, like most people talk to their pets, and he actually talks back.

“He’s a very vocal cat all round.”

And having three legs does not hold Bruce back.

“He’s got getting around on three legs off to a tee,” said Tina.

“He runs about at great speed and then spins around on his remaining leg and goes ‘me me’ to get my attention.”

Bruce, who is just two years old, has had a difficult time of late.

He lost his brother after he was hit by a car outside his home in Bristol.

Then just weeks later, Bruce himself was involved in an accident, resulting in him losing his leg.

As a result of the trauma of the accident – and losing his brother – he developed urinary problems.

And although he was very much loved by his owners, they could not continue to look after him.

Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary cattery manager Lucinda Pullen said: “He really is a lovely lad and has an unusual talent.”

“He is now looking for his forever home as our wonderful foster carer is unable to give him the TLC he needs while she recuperates.”

Bruce needs a quiet home – apart from when the music is on of course – with someone with lots of time to play with him and have a chat and sing a long.

Ideally, Bruce should be the only pet in the household and there should be no young children.

He also likes being brushed, fussed and playing with ribbons. He also needs some outside space for him to play.

Tina says she will be ‘gutted’ when she has to say goodbye to her furry friend.

“ I will miss him so much, he’s such good company and is the best cat I have ever fostered,” she said.

“But he needs a special fur ever home where he will be given a lot of attention

“And if his new owners are fans of The Nolans – well, that would be a real bonus.”
