Meet adorable AJ Scott Charlton, your Chronicle Cute Kids 2019 winner

Meet AJ Scott Charlton, your Chronicle Cute Kids champion for 2019.

With his light blond hair and stunning blue eyes the adorable two-year-old is officially our bonniest bairn after scooping the highest number of votes.

Adorable AJ was entered in this year's competition by his devoted grandmother Victoria Kingsbury, who he lives with in Washington.

The 39-year-old, who AJ calls 'Nanny' was over-the-moon when she was told the beautiful boy had won.

And she plans to use the prize, £600 in Love2shop vouchers, to treat him on one of their weekly shopping trips to Newcastle.

Mum-of-four Victoria said: "He's a very bonny little bairn, he deserved to win after everything he's been through in a short space of time.

"There was some beautiful bairns in the paper, and I'm not just being biased, but AJ stands out. I told him that he had won and I said; 'You are the best looking kid in the North East."

Little AJ weighed just over 5lbs when he was born six weeks early at the Royal Victoria Infirmary .

But he showed his fighting spirit from the earliest of ages and grew into a bright, strong healthy boy.

Victoria says she is constantly amazed by how smart her beloved grandson is.

"He's very very clever, almost two clever some times," she said. "He can count to 10 and he knows all his colours. He even knows his full name, his age and his address.

"He's got a very big personality. He loves being with other kids and he loves babies.

This year 896 little cuties were entered into our competition and more than a million votes were received.

As well as being crowned overall winner AJ also won the 19 to 35-month-old category of our competition.

Douglas Raffle was our birth to nine-month-old winner. Texas-Tia Regan-Muir won the 10 to 18-month-old category.
