Medical examiner confirms 61 more coronavirus deaths in Cook County

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed Monday that 61 more people have died of causes related to the coronavirus.

The county’s death toll now stands at 1,442, the medical examiner’s office said.

Cook County makes up about 73% of the 1,983 COVID-19 deaths in Illinois. Earlier Monday, state officials announced nearly 2,000 new cases of the coronavirus.
