Medical examiner confirms 42 more COVID-19 deaths in Cook County

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed 42 more COVID-19 deaths Friday, bringing the total in the county to 438.

The adults’ ages ranged from 34 to 97, the medical examiner’s office said. Deaths in Cook County make up about 73% of the COVID-19 deaths in the state.

Illinois health officials on Friday said 68 more died from the coronavirus, raising the state’s toll to 596. So far, 17,887 people in the state have tested positive for COVID-19.
